The seriously talented Paper Kites gang are back with a new music video and an upcoming tour to boot. This Melbourne based quintet are fresh off the back of smashing the #1 spot on the Australian ARIA album charts with their dreamy folk drenched album twelvefour, and are setting out on the road to perform for their growing fan base.
Keeping with the theme of well-past-nightfall, Renegade lazes its way through a cruisy guitar rift and relaxed vocals from lead singer, Sam Bentley. The song is an ode to the truth-telling that only ever happens late at night - midnight, three in the morning, four. Bentley, who penned the album, stuck this, opting only to write during these early hours. What happened was a raw and honest compilation of songs that will take your breath away both collectively and in their own right.
Perhaps best seen in the lyric "Now I could draw a line or I could cut my hair/But it don't change the way I am" The Paper Kites have shown again with Renegade their songwriting prowess and knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.
The third in a trilogy of music videos from the album, Renegade follows the concept of stories between the hours of midnight and 4 am. If the album is the soundtrack to your late night, then this is definitely the movie.
